«Soft» occupation in American way
It has been written and said a lot about the impudent acts of the U.S. military personnel overseas, that you ever dream even in a nightmare.
No accidentally in March of this year U.S. Army command imposed a ban to over consume an alcohol and cancelled three-and four-day leaves for U.S. military personnel stationed in South Korea. "We are taking measures to prevent the misconduct of American soldiers," - said colonel E.Matter. Under "misconduct» they often conceal flagrant profane behavior of the U.S. military.
Sometimes events remind us the American movies. On the night of March 3, p.m, one of the police departments received a message about shooting at Itaewon Station. The patrol arrived on the site discovered that three U.S. soldiers fired shotgun at passers-by enthusiastically from the car. One of the police officers trying to stop the brawlers, opened fire on wheels, but they tried to escape, hit him simultaneously. The second officer chased them. Racing over at breakneck speed through the night streets of Seoul and provoked several crashes, the Americans managed to escape finally. Luckily no one was hurt, although the municipal property and several vehicles suffered significant damage. Later those soldiers confessed the Korean police, said, however, that they did not shoot the people, but the road signs.
But that is not the point. Very often the victims of bullying, and even criminal acts of American soldiers are civilians. High military authorities are already tired to apologize for antics of the subordinates, but nothing changes. In the same March, two soldiers were arrested after the attack on the police; another American "hero" is under investigation on charges of sexual assault.
Unhappy with the "soft" occupation of its territory by U.S. troops (currently in South Korea deployed over 28,000 troops, tasked to break the North Korean regime), Korean citizens are trying to protest. The most massive demonstrations took place in 2002, when the U.S. armored vehicle hit to death two 14-year-old Korean schoolgirls and US soldiers were found not guilty by a military court.
In 2006, with the slogan "Yankee, go home! This is our land! thousands of people marched through the streets of Seoul, protested against the plan to redeploy the US Headquarters and U.S. military bases to the south of Seoul.
In the summer of 2012 a great wave of protest was caused by arbitrary arrest by American military patrol of the local residents, allegedly parked the car too close to the U.S. military base perimeter.
It is obvious that the U.S. military completely neglect the local attitude to their presence. Demonstrating again and again its contempt for the people, laws, and traditions of the host countries, the Americans provoke hatred and risk to lose their few allies.
