We’re looking for a Country Manager, Russia, to build our business and support the growth of our buyer community in Russia. This leadership role is a general management position with responsibility for creating and executing Russian country strategy focused on increasing buyers and platform GMV (Gross merchandise value), planning and executing on business development activities in a highly mature and competitive market, working with global functions including product, marketing and finance to deliver on each country initiative, and managing the financial performance and growth of DHGate’s revenue and P&L in Russia.
You should be someone who is results driven, loves ecommerce, has experience with market entry and market penetration in Russia, and is excited and passionate about the opportunity to grow DHGate’s presence. You should have great connections to Russian marketing and traffic generation channels/portals (Yandex, VK.com, etc), creative agencies, operation outsourcing companies, market research agencies, and import/export/customs relationships. You should have amazing communication skills with fluency in both English and Russian (speaking and writing), be super organized, and feel comfortable working quickly and independently. You must have the ability and desire to roll up your sleeves and execute (especially in the beginning) as well as to oversee a team that is driving execution.
The Country Manager will report into the head of our International Buyer Department, and is ideally based in Beijing, China; but primary location flexibility is available for the right candidates.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and achieve country plan and objectives through initiatives with clients and other stakeholders.
• Manage and oversee all marketing, social media and PR channels/initiatives (i.e. Yandex, Google.ru, VK.com, Odnoklassniki.ru.
• Ensure marketing budget and spend results in expected ROI.
• Establish, manage, track, and hold marketing agencies accountable to KPI’s.
• Establish and maintain positive, beneficial, and constructive relationships with key customers
• Develop localization strategies and coordinate localization product development functions to suit market and buyer needs by working with our global product team
• Develop strategies and coordinate product, buyer and brand marketing initiatives in conjunction with global and local marketing team
• Manage country financial performance, forecast, and budgets.
• Hire, train, and manage a Russia market penetration team over time.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated a track record of success with Go-to Market launches in Russia, and gaining market penetration and footprint in Russia.
• A minimum of 6 years as a country general manager for major brands.
• Tremendous strategic business, financial and marketing acumen
• Experience in managing an online marketing/direct response marketing budget with successful results.
• Desire to work hard in a fast-paced environment
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Experience conducting market and customer research/studies.
• Required: Professional fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in Russian.
• Required: Professional fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English.
• Ecommerce experience a plus.
• MBA a plus
